“Make Waves – Together”: CARIFTA 2025

the Aruba Aquatics Federation proudly hosted a motivational session

As part of our ongoing Road to CARIFTA journey, the Aruba Aquatics Federation proudly hosted a motivational session for the 30 talented athletes representing Aruba at this year’s CARIFTA Games in Trinidad & Tobago. These CARIFTA Sessions included a motivational course for our qualifiers.

The session, led by Nadine Willems-Antersijn of MOMAX Trainings, was titled “Make Waves – Together”—a powerful reminder that CARIFTA is about more than just athletic performance. It’s about unity, growth, and representing Aruba with pride.

Nadine shared five core messages designed to inspire and empower our athletes as they prepare to compete on the regional stage:

  1. Unity – Represent Aruba as one team, under one flag, with one heartbeat.
  2. Team Spirit – Celebrate together, support each other through both victories and setbacks.
  3. Sportsmanship – Compete with respect, humility, and kindness.
  4. Enjoyment – Embrace the full CARIFTA experience, from the races to the friendships.
  5. Growth – Learn from each moment and return stronger and wiser.

To close the session, the athletes took a moment for quiet reflection. Each one chose an “anchor word”—a personal word to guide them through the challenges and triumphs of CARIFTA. It was a meaningful and grounding moment that brought the team even closer together.

“It was an honor to speak to this group,” said Nadine. “Their energy, focus, and pride were inspiring to witness. I have no doubt they will make Aruba proud.”

The Aruba Aquatics Federation extends heartfelt thanks to Nadine Willems-Antersijn and Momax Trainings & More for helping our athletes build not just stronger bodies, but stronger mindsets. And of course, a big shoutout to our generous sponsor Subway Aruba for helping make this evening possible. Your support fuels our journey
